Joss Whedon to Talk About X-Men
3
'Rafferty Rulz' pointed us to this
site where "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"
and "Angel" creator Joss Whedon says he
will talk about politics and X-Men 3 this Sunday,
October 24th.
The truth about the X-Men is...much less important
than this election. Much less important than
putting someone in the White House who knows the
difference between leading and bullying. I'm here
to confirm that I will be doing the phone-party on
Saunday and I'm urging any and everyone to attend
one or even host one. (Highstakes2004.com.) I plan
to be incredibly funny and insightful, or mention
some people who have been in the past. We can talk
about politics, we can talk about Buffy, we can
talk about car maintenence (though I'll mostly
just listen at that point) and I will once and for
all tell you all what IS going on with the X-Men.
And then we can talk about politics some more.
Len Wiseman Up
for Wolverine?
Cinescape is reporting the rumor
that Underworld director Len Wiseman may be up for
Wolverine.
We've heard from a trustworthy source that
UNDERWORLD director Len Wiseman has been
approached about directing the WOLVERINE movie.
How long ago Wiseman was offered the job, whether
he's the only director being offered the gig and
what his answer was (or even if one has been given
by Wiseman) all remain unknown. All we know is
that he's been asked.
Wiseman is currently directing Underworld 2. David
Benioff is writing the script for the "X-Men"
spin-off
William
Stryker Not Gone Yet?
DVD Bits talked to Brian Cox, who
says that we may not have seen the last of William
Stryker yet.
I'm not necessarily dead in X-Men. No no no. I may
re-emerge. Unlike this film, I'm definitely
history in this film. I don't mind doing those
films. That's why I didn't mind doing two films
like this. I don't see this as a franchise as such.
I think they're good films and these are good
filmmakers. Frank has done a great job in
producing these films. I think Bryan Singer is a
really good film-maker to work with. That's the
thing I get out of it is
the work experience with that.
Turner Writing
Magneto X-Men Spin-Off
20th Century Fox has set Sheldon
Turner (The Longest Yard) to write Magneto, an
action-thriller based on the villainous character
played in the first two "X-Men" films by
Ian McKellen, reports Variety.
The project marks the second extension of the
studio's "X-Men" comic book franchise.
The move follows a Fox deal with Troy screenwriter
David Benioff to write Wolverine, who is played by
Hugh Jackman in the films.
The studio is developing the spin-offs as they
separately develop X-Men 3. Simon Kinberg is
writing the third installment. Magneto will likely
be produced by the "X-Men" duo of Lauren
Shuler Donner and Marvel Studios' Avi Arad.
The original "X-Men" film began with a
prologue that showed Magneto as a child being led
to a concentration camp by Nazis, and that is the
period in which the new film will take place.
Since the character will be seen almost
exclusively in his formative years, it is not
clear whether McKellen will be in the film at all,
says the trade.
"I pitched a film that is almost 'The Pianist'
meets 'X-Men,' about a guy who, after watching his
family slaughtered, has an awakening of his powers
and seeks revenge," Turner said.
The storyline will heavily involve Professor X (played
by Patrick Stewart in the films). That character
was a soldier in the allied force that liberated
the concentration camps. The professor meets
Magneto after the war, and while they bond over
the realization that they are alike in their
special powers, their differences soon turn them
into enemies

datos nuevos: "He tenido una conversación
con Bryan (el director) hoy... Estamos muy seguros
de que Lobezno volverá (...) Estoy deseando
incluir a Bestia y me encantaría añadir a Gámbito,
OSCURA EN X-MEN 3
“Probablemente
Kinberg (XXX 2: State Of The Union, Los 4 Fantásticos),
“He oído cosas como ésa – comenta Janssen
The
Future of the "X-Men" Franchise
XMenFilms has been provided with a
little info about the "X-Men"
franchise's future from a 20th Century Fox
representative. They confirm that nothing on the
X3 director/plot, has yet to emerge so we must
await official announcements regarding that:
"Firstly, there have been rumors amongst the
fandom that "Wolverine" may be filmed
before X3 - that's false. Finishing the X-MEN
trilogy is the top priority of 20th Century Fox,
but spin-off films are being developed at the same
time. As most know, "Wolverine" and
"Magneto" are also in early development.
By the producers and studio request, the weather
controlling mutant known as Storm (Ororo Munroe)
is currently being included in the X3 film
screenplay on a provisional basis. The role is
being written with the idea that it can easily be
switched out for another character under the
circumstances that actress, Halle Berry cannot
return.
Should the actress return, the role will likely be
expanded to that equal of the other main cast
members, in future drafts of the screenplay. It is
also possible that the role could possibly remain
small for a cameo appearance. Or could the role be
recast? This is still being worked out, and won't
congeal until main cast members are asked to
return.
The studio is set on getting X3 out for a 2006
release. Even though Avi Arad or Marvel
Enterprises has listed a May release date, the
month of May has been put in question, so changes
in release date are a strong possibility. It all
depends on the director and shooting locations. A
Winter 2006 release is not even being thought
about, so nix that idea."
Patrick
Stewart on X-Men 3
TrekWeb reports that SpaceView
magazine has a new interview with Patrick Stewart
who talked about returning as Professor Charles
Xavier in X-Men 3:
Everyone, my colleagues and I, we are all very
pleased to be involved on this film. The filming
would have to begin June 2005, because 20th
Century Fox plans to release X-MEN 3 in July 2006.
And it is not that simple to get all the cast
together again. Unfortunately, Bryan Singer will
not be involved this time, because he is directing
the new SUPERMAN movie. And, as I said, is not
certain that all the actors will be returning. But
I am sure that Hugh Jackman will be back. He is
such a crazy actor! I just saw him on stage in New
York where he delivered such an extraordinary
performance. |
